Southern Shore Webelos Woods

What is Webelos Woods? Let’s start with what it is not.  It is not about Webelos Adventure requirements or Shooting Sports.  Webelos Woods is all about the Scouts BSA program. 

It is an outdoor adventure designed to aid in the Webelos-to-Scout transition plan - this is the most important district event that we run all year.  This event is designed to introduce first and second year Webelos Scouts and their parents to the exciting Scouting adventures that lay ahead of them and help make the transition into Scouts BSA more exciting.  The event is filled with fun activities, intriguing demonstrations, and plenty of outdoor excitement.  All demonstrations and activities will be conducted by the Scouts from our District Troops, which will showcase the Scout-run aspect of Scouts BSA.

Purpose:  Webelos Scouting and the activities of the Webelos Patrol should form a natural stepping stone for the Webelos Scout and his parents to move into Scouts BSA.  This is often overlooked with Webelos.  The purpose of this event is to create in all Webelos Scouts a genuine desire to know more about Scouts BSA Scouting, and through a fun-filled series of demonstrations give them a preview of some of the activities, thrills and adventure that await them in Scouts BSA.

The program capitalizes on the Webelos’ interest in adventure in the great outdoors as it exposes them to the fun and skills of their next step in Scouting.  It also offers an opportunity for parents to gain a perspective on the Scouts BSA program, how the different Troops run their programs, the differences between the Cub Scout and Scouts BSA programs, and their opportunities for adult leadership.

• As a result of this program, participants should come away with:
• An understanding of the Scouts BSA program, the skills required, and the fun that is possible.
• An appreciation of a Scouts BSA Troop - how it is run, and how it differs from a Cub Scout Pack.
• An increased desire to continue in Scouting as a Scout in a Scouts BSA Troop.
• A "feel" for the various Troops in our District, and an idea of which one they may want to join.

Scouts: BSA          $10       after 9/27 - $15

Webelos:               $18      after 9/27 - $23

Adults:                    $10     after 9/27 - $15

Unit Fee:                $20     after 9/27 - $50
