Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills/ Scoutmaster Specifics
WHAT? Working as patrols, this hands-on course provides adult leaders the practical outdoor skills they need to lead Scouts in the out-of-doors. Upon completion, leaders should feel comfortable teaching Scouts the basic skills required to obtain the First Class rank. Along with Scoutmaster Specifics this course is required of all direct contact leaders registered in Boy Scout Troops and Varsity Scout Teams, in order to be considered "trained". Scoutmaster Specifics will be taught on Friday night or you can take the course on line prior to coming. ITOLS (Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills) will provide Boy Scout leaders the basic outdoor skills and information needed to start and guide a program the right way. The skills taught are based on the outdoor skills found in The Boy Scout Handbook.
WHEN? April 7-8, 2018 or November 3-4, 2018(Scoutmaster Specifics will be held on Friday night starting at 7:00PM. It can be taken online prior to coming to course. It takes about 4 hours. Does not need to be completed in one sitting. Bring completion certificate to the course.
WHERE? Joseph A Citta Scout Reservation (229 Brookville Road, Barnegat)
TIME? Registration starts at 7:30 AM Saturday. Class starts at 8:00 and goes until 3:00 PM Sunday (You may arrive as early as 5:00 PM Friday to begin setting up your tent)
NOTES: See packing list on reverse. Bring your lunch for Saturday.
COST? Spring- $10 before March 29, 2018(refunded at course as a part of council program fee), $25 after March 29, 2018(non-refundable)
