Eagle Scout is a widely recognized and prestigious youth award, requiring extensive leadership and service. It is the highest advancement rank in Scouts BSA.
- In 2023, a total of 29,269 young men and women earned the Eagle Scout Award
- Since its inception, over 2.7 million youth have earned the Eagle Scout Award.
- In 2023, American Scouts contributed over 7.1 million hours of service, valued at more than $225 million.
Eagle Scout Rank
- To earn the rank, a Scout must:
- Progress through the ranks in the following order:
- Tenderfoot
- Second Class
- First Class
- Star
- Life
- Eagle
- Earn 21 merit badges, including:
- First Aid
- Citizenship in the Community
- Citizenship in the Nation
- Citizenship in the World
- Communications
- Cooking
- Environmental Science
- Personal Fitness
- Camping
- Family Life
- Personal Management
- Emergency Preparedness or Lifesaving
- Cycling, Hiking, or Swimming
- Serve six months in a troop leadership position.
- Plan, develop, and give leadership to a service project for any religious organization or any school or community.
- Take part in a Scoutmaster conference.
- Successfully complete an Eagle Scout board of review.
- Progress through the ranks in the following order:
National Eagle Scout Association
- Founded in 1972, the National Eagle Scout Association maintains contact with Eagle Scouts to sustain their interest in Scouting.
- Eagle Scouts in good standing may join.
